LATEHAR – A fierce gunfight broke out between security forces and JJMP rebels in Latehar district’s Bokakhand forest on Monday.
The encounter occurred during an ongoing anti-insurgency operation in the area.
Moreover, two Jharkhand Jaguar personnel, Ram Singh Soren and Rajendra Pandey, sustained serious injuries.
The wounded jawans were immediately evacuated to Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Furthermore, Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav had received intelligence about JJMP leader Pappu Lohra’s plans.
In response, a joint team of Latehar police and Jharkhand Jaguar was deployed to the forest.
However, the militants opened fire as soon as the security forces entered the dense jungle.
On the other hand, the security forces claim to have inflicted significant damage on the insurgents.
Meanwhile, a massive search operation is underway in the region following the encounter.
The Bokakhand forest, known for its difficult terrain, has long been a hideout for extremists.
In addition, police recovered three guns, several backpacks, and daily use items from the site.
