JAMSHEDPUR – Tensions escalated in Ghasiadih in Sundernagar as villagers forced district officials and police to halt a land survey.

Under orders from the Dhalbhum SDO, a district administration team arrived with police to demarcate 3.30 acres of land at Plot No. 1252, Khata No. 80.

The officials began leveling the land with a JCB machine, which sparked outrage among local residents.

Carrying traditional weapons, the villagers raised slogans and sat in protest.

Despite attempts by officials to explain the process and ask villagers to present documents, the protesters did not back down.

The protest forced the team, led by Magistrates Mukesh Kumar and Arvind Kumar Tirkey, to leave the site without completing the work.

Police, along with Sundernagar’s in-charge officer and several officials, were present in large numbers to support the team.

Arjun Samtha, the grandson of the village head, claimed that the individual asserting ownership of the land had illegally acquired properties at 26 locations in Kolhan.

Samtha added that their ancestors had held the land for generations and no proper notice was given to the Gram Sabha about the demarcation.

He confirmed that the Gram Sabha would continue to oppose any such actions.
