JAMSHEDPUR – Street dog attacks have become rampant in Jamshedpur, with more than a dozen people injured in recent incidents.
On Saturday, stray dogs bit multiple people, with many seeking treatment at MGM, TMH, and private hospitals.
The attacks started Friday evening when an eight-year-old girl, Anishri, was attacked in Mango’s Gokul Nagar area.
She was walking with her mother to tuition when two stray dogs suddenly pounced on her.
Anishri fell to the ground as the dogs bit her, but her mother’s screams drew the attention of nearby residents, who rushed to help.
By the time they rescued her, the dogs had already inflicted several bites.
In the morning, three others were also attacked by stray dogs while walking in Mango.
Meanwhile, in Sonari’s Budhram locality, several elderly individuals were attacked by street dogs, including a 50-year-old man named Kundan Lal and 60-year-old Shankar Lal Sahu.
Local residents expressed frustration that despite multiple reports to the authorities, the situation has only worsened.
Citizens have accused the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee and Mango Municipal Corporation of failing to control the stray dog population.
BJP leader Vikas Singh criticized the municipal corporation’s inaction, threatening a protest at the Deputy Commissioner’s office if the issue is not addressed.
