JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) recently held a seminar focusing on the nutritional benefits of millets as part of Nutrition Month celebrations.
The one-day event was jointly organized with Manipal Tata Medical College.
Moreover, it aligned with the International Millets Year 2023 initiative.
Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta, Vice Chancellor of JWU, inaugurated the seminar.
She emphasized the university’s commitment to raising awareness on national issues.
Furthermore, Dr. Gupta highlighted millets as part of India’s traditional food heritage.
Dr. Rama Subramaniam introduced the seminar’s topic, stressing millets’ nutritional advantages.
Meanwhile, Professor Syed Ahmed delivered a keynote message on millet research importance.
In the plenary session, Professor Zarina Begum discussed various millets’ nutritional significance.
Additionally, Dr. Swati Shikha encouraged incorporating millets into daily diets.
The seminar featured competitions, including a millet recipe contest and quiz.
Tina Tanti and Asifa Naaz won first place in the Millets Recipe Competition.
On the other hand, Sweta secured the top position in the Extempore competition.
The event concluded with awards for participants, emphasizing nutrition education’s importance.
