NSS Day Celebrated at Graduate School College for Women

Students showcase talent through dance and song performances

JAMSHEDPUR – Graduate School College for Women commemorated National Service Scheme (NSS) Day, emphasizing youth involvement in national service and character development.

The event commenced with NSS Program Officer Dr. Nisha Kongari presenting a plant to Principal Dr. Veena Singh Priyadarshi.

Moreover, Dr. Priyadarshi stressed the importance of developing students’ personalities and raising awareness about national service.

On the other hand, Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh, Head of Political Science, shed light on NSS’s history.

He explained that NSS was formally launched on September 24, 1969, during Mahatma Gandhi’s birth centenary year.

Furthermore, Dr. Singh highlighted Gandhi’s emphasis on involving youth in national service.

"Young people contribute significantly to nation-building," remarked a knowledgeable source.

In addition, the event featured cultural performances by students.

Kajal and Shakuntala presented a beautiful dance performance.

Meanwhile, Shagufta, Chandrika, Urmila, Sonia, Vandana, and Meenakshi sang the NSS anthem.

The program was skillfully conducted by Arpita and Anuradha.

However, the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Nisha Kongari.

Besides, Prof. Doris Das, Head of Botany Department, and Dr. Jyoti Kumari, Head of Philosophy Department, graced the occasion.
