High Court Orders CBI Probe into Jharkhand Assembly Recruitment Scam

Allegations span multiple Speaker tenures, involve illegal appointments

Key Points:

• Jharkhand High Court mandates CBI investigation into assembly recruitment scam

• PIL alleged illegal appointments during various Speaker tenures

• MLA Saryu Roy welcomes decision, expects far-reaching consequences

RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged assembly recruitment scam, marking a significant development in the case.

The decision was announced by Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai.

This ruling follows a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed alleging illegal appointments.

The court had previously reserved its order on June 20 after hearing arguments.

Moreover, the recruitment scam spans multiple assembly Speaker tenures.

During Inder Singh Namdhari’s tenure, 274 individuals were allegedly appointed.

Meanwhile, 324 recruitments occurred under Speaker Alamgir Alam’s leadership.

Additionally, inappropriate promotions were alleged during Shashank Shekhar Bhokta’s tenure.

Investigations revealed that 70% of appointments under Namdhari were from a single district.

Furthermore, allegations of bribery surfaced during Alamgir Alam’s tenure as Speaker.

On the other hand, multiple investigations were initiated but yielded little progress.

The court’s decision to involve the CBI aims to uncover the extent of irregularities.

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has welcomed the High Court’s decision.

He expects the investigation to have far-reaching consequences.

Roy recalled his attempts to bring the issue to light in 2007.

He accused the current state government of conspiring to suppress the scam.

In conclusion, the CBI probe is expected to reveal the roles of various officials.

The investigation may expose how the “temple of democracy” was allegedly compromised.

All eyes are now on the CBI to bring those responsible to justice.

This case highlights the importance of transparency in government recruitment processes.
