Tatanagar Station Set for Major Redevelopment

Three New Platforms and Kavach Safety System Planned

Key Points:

• Tatanagar station to add three new platforms, totaling eight

• Redevelopment project estimated at Rs 400 crore

• Kavach safety system to be implemented on nearby rail routes

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tatanagar railway station is poised for a significant upgrade with plans to add three new platforms to its existing infrastructure.

This expansion will increase the total number of platforms from five to eight.

The redevelopment project aims to improve passenger train movement and reduce delays.

Moreover, the expansion involves giving up three yard lines to accommodate the new platforms.

Currently, many trains are forced to stop at Jugsalai and Salgajhuri due to platform shortages.

The project, estimated to cost around Rs 400 crore, was initiated by the Prime Minister’s foundation stone laying ceremony.

Furthermore, the plan includes new constructions such as flyovers and subways.

These additions will enhance connectivity between both gates of the station.

Meanwhile, the Railway GM announced plans to implement the Kavach safety system on nearby routes.

This system will be installed on trains between Kharagpur and Rourkela, and Bhadrak via Tatanagar.

The South East Zone is preparing to issue tenders for the Kavach project.

Additionally, the Kavach system will be extended to a 9,000 km network and 10,000 engines over three years.

The Railway Board is reviewing proposals to extend Kavach from Bilaspur to Jharsuguda.

This extension would benefit the Chakradharpur Division as well.

The Kavach system aims to significantly enhance train safety across the network.

The redevelopment project addresses long-standing issues of platform shortages at Tatanagar station.

It promises to improve the overall passenger experience and reduce travel inconveniences.

The combination of infrastructure upgrades and safety enhancements marks a significant step for the region’s railways.

As the project progresses, it is expected to boost the station’s capacity and efficiency.

These developments underscore the government’s commitment to modernizing India’s railway infrastructure.
