JAMTARA – Jamtara police have apprehended three cybercriminals and recovered cash and electronic devices in a significant operation against online fraud.
The arrests were made in Jamtara district’s Nagar police station area.
Specifically, the suspects were caught in Tilabad and Jharna Para villages.
Police acted on a tip-off, leading to the successful raid.
The operation yielded ₹8.50 lakh in cash, believed to be proceeds from cybercrime activities.
Additionally, authorities confiscated 8 mobile phones, 8 SIM cards, and 7 ATM cards from the suspects.
Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Waquarib revealed details of the arrest at a press conference.
He emphasized the ongoing campaign against cybercriminals in the district.
"Over the past month, we’ve put more than a dozen criminals behind bars," Waquarib stated.
The arrested individuals are young adults, aged between 20 and 22 years.
According to the police, they have been involved in cybercrime activities for an extended period.
Their operations reportedly spanned across Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
The suspects were allegedly gathered to distribute the proceeds from their illegal activities.
A local cybersecurity expert commented, "This arrest is a significant blow to the cybercrime network in the region."
The police are committed to eradicating cybercrime from the district.
Authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activities.
