SAHIBGANJ – A video showing a couple being paraded with a garland of shoes in Sahibganj has gone viral on social media.

In the viral footage, a woman and a man are seen with shoe garlands around their necks, being publicly humiliated by villagers.

The incident took place in the Mirzachowki police station area of Borio Assembly constituency, where the villagers allegedly took matters into their own hands, accusing the couple of illicit relations.

Following the viral video, the district police have launched an investigation.

“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” a police official stated, assuring that swift action will be taken against those responsible for this incident.

The police are working on identifying the culprits and are expected to make arrests soon.

Sahibganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar Singh emphasized the need for legal processes to be followed.

“If anyone had any complaints, they should have approached the police instead of resorting to such actions,” he said, adding that those involved in this “heinous act” will face strict legal consequences.
