JAMSHEDPUR – Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren joins BJP, tours Kolhan region amid warm reception from supporters.
Champai Soren, a senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after rebelling against the JMM.
Following his induction into the BJP, Soren has been on a tour of the Kolhan region, where he is being welcomed by a large number of supporters and BJP workers.
As part of his tour, Soren visited Kudada village in the Potka assembly constituency of East Singhbhum district, where he received a warm reception from BJP workers and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, the former Chief Minister stated, "The overwhelming turnout at my welcome events represents a wave of change. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have placed their trust in me, and I will fulfill this responsibility with utmost dedication."
Soren expressed concern about the plight of tribal communities in Jharkhand, particularly in the Santhal region.
He asserted, "The existence of tribals in Santhal is under the greatest threat since the formation of the separate state, and this has become the biggest issue in the state."
He emphasized that only the BJP could effectively address this issue, stating, "No other political party can raise this concern."
The veteran leader predicted that Jharkhand’s development would only be possible under BJP leadership. He also announced his intention to tour the entire state of Jharkhand.
A local BJP worker, speaking on condition of anonymity, commented, "Champai Soren’s joining has strengthened our party’s position in the tribal-dominated areas of Jharkhand. His experience and influence will be invaluable in the upcoming elections."
