Chaibasa court sentences two female Naxals to five years of rigorous imprisonment for a 2018 murder in West Singhbhum district.
CHAIBASA – The Additional District Judge-II in Chaibasa has sentenced two female Naxals to five years of rigorous imprisonment for a 2018 murder case.
The convicted individuals, Jubna Birua and Saraswati Bhumij, were found guilty of fatally attacking Sukhlal Birua in Nagarkatta village.
The attack, which occurred due to an old enmity, took place in the Manjhari area of West Singhbhum district.
Sukhlal Birua sustained severe injuries from the assault and was admitted to a government hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care.
Initially, the police registered a case against unknown assailants following Sukhlal’s death.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Jubna Birua, wife of Damkan Birua, and Saraswati Bhumij, wife of Durga Bhumij, were responsible for the attack.
Both women, also residents of Nagarkatta village, were arrested and charged under relevant sections of the law.
The prosecution successfully argued their case, leading to the conviction of both Naxal women.
The court’s decision to impose a five-year rigorous imprisonment sentence highlights the severity of the crime committed.
