Civil Surgeons and Hospital Superintendents directed to prevent drug shortages and expiry issues.

The Health Department has instructed the appointment of nodal officers to ensure the availability of drugs and prevent expired medications in district hospitals.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Health Department has issued directives to appoint nodal officers to oversee drug availability in district hospitals.

Senior medical officers will be appointed as nodal officers to monitor the availability of medicines in all hospitals.

These nodal officers will regularly report the status of drug availability to the Civil Surgeon.

The Civil Surgeon will submit monthly reports to the Directorate.

The directive states that Civil Surgeons can only purchase essential drugs that will be needed in the next three to four months.

The purchase of unnecessary quantities of medicines should be avoided, with priority given to essential and seasonal drugs.

Special attention is directed towards ensuring the availability of medicines for snake and dog bites.
