Jamshedpur Truckers Strike Demanding Rate Hike and More Road Transport

Association seeks 50% increase in road transport and fare adjustment amid rising costs

Jamshedpur Truck Trailer Owners Association has initiated a strike, demanding fare adjustments and increased road transport allocation for goods.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Truck Trailer Owners Association has launched a strike, calling for fare rate adjustments and increased road transport allocation for goods currently moved by rail and pipeline.

The association’s decision to strike follows a meeting with Keonjhar Union officials.

This action comes in response to the union’s three-day halt of loaded vehicles.

Truckers are demanding a 50% increase in road transport for goods currently routed through railway racks and pipelines.

The association is also seeking an adjustment in fare rates, which have remained stagnant for four years.

Rising costs of vehicle maintenance and fuel have further fueled the truckers’ demands.

If their requests are not addressed, the association plans to intensify their protest.

Escalation measures may include engaging with district administration and state government officials.

The strike highlights the growing concerns within the trucking industry about operational costs and fair compensation.

This situation could potentially impact the movement of goods in and around Jamshedpur.
