Champai Soren to Join BJP in Grand Ranchi Ceremony
Former Jharkhand CM to be inducted by Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Shaheed Ground
Champai Soren, former Jharkhand CM, will officially join BJP on Friday in Ranchi after resigning from JMM.
RANCHI – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is set to join the BJP at a grand ceremony in Ranchi on Friday.
Champai Soren’s induction into the BJP will take place at Shaheed Ground in Ranchi.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will officiate the ceremony.
Thousands of BJP workers and senior party leaders from Jharkhand are expected to attend the event.
Champai confirmed his decision to join the BJP after meeting Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s co-election in-charge for Jharkhand.
Champai recently served as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister following Hemant Soren’s arrest in a land scam case.
He stepped down to allow Hemant Soren to reclaim the chief ministerial position after being released on bail on June 28.
On Wednesday, Champai resigned from the primary membership of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and relinquished all party positions.
In his resignation letter to JMM supremo Shibu Soren, Champai expressed his disappointment with the party’s current direction.
"I never imagined leaving the JMM, which I considered my family, but recent events have forced me to make this difficult decision," Champai stated in his letter.
A local political analyst commented, "Champai Soren’s move to the BJP marks a significant shift in Jharkhand’s political landscape. It could potentially alter the balance of power in the state."
The former CM also highlighted the lack of forums within the JMM to express grievances, citing Shibu Soren’s health issues and reduced participation in active politics.
Champai’s transition to the BJP is expected to have far-reaching implications for Jharkhand’s political scenario.
