Court Order Ignored: PHED Employees’ Salaries Remain Unpaid

Non-Gazetted Employees Federation plans legal action over delayed wages

PHED Adityapur Division faces backlash as employees’ salaries remain unpaid despite court order.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Executive Engineer of the PHED Adityapur Division is being accused by the Non-Gazetted Employees Federation of disregarding a High Court order to pay overdue salaries.

For the past eight months, seven employees of the Philippine Higher Education Department (PHED) have not received their salaries.

On June 27, the Jharkhand High Court mandated that salaries be disbursed within three weeks.

The salaries have yet to be paid, despite the fact that six weeks have elapsed since the court order.

On August 20, Manoj Kumar, an employee, lost his wife as a result of inadequate medical care.

Kumar was unable to obtain the essential medical care he required due to his financial constraints, which were a result of unpaid wages.

Vimal Singh, the President of the Federation, acknowledged that members were becoming increasingly enraged by this oversight.

Singh disclosed that the Federation is in the process of submitting a contempt petition to the court.

The Federation is preparing a phased movement in response to the situation.

Since January 2023, the salaries of the affected employees have not been received.

Executive Engineer Sumit Kumar is accused of disregarding the High Court’s directive.

The Federation regards this as a plain instance of contempt of court.

The High Court ruled in favor of the employees who had brought the matter to its attention.

The PHED Adityapur Division has neglected to adhere to the order, despite the court’s intervention.

The afflicted employees are experiencing substantial hardship as a result of the ongoing delay in salary payment.

This incident underscores the obstacles that government employees encounter in obtaining their justifiable compensation.

The Federation’s anticipated legal action has the potential to establish a precedent for comparable instances of delayed salary payments.
