Jharkhand Offers Free Electricity up to 200 Units for Domestic Consumers
Cabinet Decision Brings Relief to Millions of Households
Jharkhand has introduced a new scheme offering free electricity up to 200 units for domestic consumers, starting from August 14.
RANCHI – Jharkhand electricity distribution company’s domestic consumers have good news as the state government has launched a scheme providing free electricity up to 200 units.
According to the recent Cabinet decision, this benefit has been implemented from August 14, with meter readings already reflecting the change.
For consumers with electricity usage up to 200 units in July, no bill will be charged.
Their payment amount will show zero for consumption within the 200-unit limit.
High Tension (HT) consumers’ bills will be processed first, followed by bills for domestic consumers starting from August 14.
Both urban and rural consumers are eligible for this benefit.
Any consumer whose consumption is below 200 units will be covered under this scheme.
A total of 45,77,616 domestic consumers across the state will benefit from this initiative.
Out of these, 41,44,634 consumers will fall under the 200-unit free electricity category.
The state government is expected to spend approximately ₹344.36 crore per month on this subsidy.
The funds will be provided to the Jharkhand electricity distribution corporation as a subsidy to cover the costs.
In the district of Seraikela, 2,54,271 domestic consumers will benefit from the scheme.
Similarly, in West Singhbhum, 2,61,807 consumers, and in East Singhbhum, 86,622 consumers will receive free electricity up to 200 units.
The initiative is a significant step towards easing the financial burden on households across the state, especially in rural areas.
