JAMSHEDPUR – Senior citizens in Sakchi rallied for the restoration of rail concessions and pension hikes.
The rally began at Gandhi Ghat Park, where senior citizens, led by the Singhbhum Central Senior Citizens Committee, garlanded Mahatma Gandhi’s statue.
They marched from Gandhi Ghat Park to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, wearing black badges.
A memorandum addressed to the President, Prime Minister, Railway Minister, and Jharkhand Chief Minister was submitted.
Their demands include reinstating railway fare concessions suspended during the pandemic and increasing the pension from ₹1,000 to ₹4,000.
Committee President Shiv Pujan Singh stated that if their demands are not met, senior citizens nationwide will escalate their protest into an indefinite strike.
The march expressed the urgency of their demands.
