Speakers and Key Messages

Dr. Sudhir Rai, General Manager of Medical Services at Tata Steel and a member of the Indian Vascular Society, highlighted the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle through such events.

He stated, “By organizing this walkathon, we aim to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Early detection and timely treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease can prevent limb amputations.”

Vascular Diseases and Health Awareness

Vascular diseases, which affect the body’s blood vessels, are a significant health issue.

In India, 40-50% of all amputations are linked to complications from vascular diseases.

Risk factors include smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

Early detection and treatment are essential to prevent severe complications and gangrene.

The walkathon aimed to educate the public about the risk factors, symptoms, and available treatments for vascular diseases.
