Tata Steel-Backed Event Promotes “Amputation Free World” Vision
Jamshedpur’s first National Vascular Day walkathon raises awareness about preventing and treating vascular diseases.
JAMSHEDPUR – A groundbreaking walkathon, organized by the Vascular Society of India and supported by Tata Steel, marked National Vascular Day in Jamshedpur today.
The early morning event kicked off at 6 AM near the JRD Tata Sports Complex main gate.
Participants covered a distance of 2.5 kilometers, demonstrating their commitment to the cause.
Around 300 enthusiastic individuals joined the walkathon, showcasing strong community support.
The event’s theme, “Amputation Free World,” highlighted the critical link between vascular health and limb preservation.
Chanakya Chaudhary, Tata Steel’s Vice President of Corporate Services, officially inaugurated the walkathon.
Several key figures from Tata Steel and the medical community were present at the flag-off ceremony.
Dr. Sudhir Rai, General Manager of Medical Services at Tata Steel and a Vascular Society of India member, expressed hope for the event’s impact, stating, “We aim to motivate people towards healthier lifestyles through this walkathon.
The initiative shed light on the prevalence of vascular diseases in India, which account for a significant percentage of amputations.
Organizers emphasized the importance of recognizing risk factors such as smoking, diabetes, hypertension, and high blood cholesterol.
The walkathon served as an educational platform, informing the public about symptoms and available treatments for vascular diseases.
This event was part of a larger nationwide campaign, with similar walkathons taking place in 33 other cities across India.
The primary goal was to spread awareness about the preventable and treatable nature of vascular conditions.
By hosting this event, Jamshedpur joined the national effort to combat vascular diseases and reduce amputation rates.
