BJP alleges breakdown of law and order under current JMM-Congress-RJD coalition
Recent violent incidents have sparked concerns about deteriorating security in Jharkhand.
RANCHI – The Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri criticized the state government for failing to maintain law and order during a press conference at BJP headquarters.
Rising Crime Rate Alarms Opposition
Bauri highlighted a series of recent violent incidents:
– Murder of Sub-Inspector Anupam Kachhap
– Stabbing death of advocate Gopikrishna
– Fatal shooting of public representative Ved Prakash
"In just two days, we’ve seen brutal killings of law enforcement and legal professionals," Bauri stated. "This demonstrates a complete breakdown of the justice system under the current administration."
Government Failures Alleged
The opposition leader leveled several accusations against the ruling coalition:
1. Over 7,000 cases of violence against women during their tenure
2. Use of force against tribal students
3. Alleged influx of illegal immigrants
4. Average of 5 murders occurring daily in the state
Bauri expressed disappointment that Chief Minister Hemant Soren failed to address law and order concerns in his recent assembly speech.
Democratic Process Under Threat?
BJP members raised concerns about the functioning of the state assembly:
– 18 opposition MLAs suspended
– Leader of Opposition allegedly denied speaking time
– Vote of no-confidence motion filed against the Speaker
"While Rahul Gandhi demands unlimited time to speak in Parliament, here in Jharkhand, the opposition is being silenced," Bauri claimed.
BJP State President’s Remarks
Former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi echoed these sentiments:
"Under the Hemant government, no one except criminals and thugs is safe," Marandi asserted. "Even the police tasked with protecting citizens are not secure."
He cited the murders of the lawyer and police inspector as evidence of a "fearful atmosphere" in the state capital and beyond.
