Jharkhand to Launch First State Faculty Development Academy

Initiative aims to enhance university teachers’ skills through elite institution training

Jharkhand’s pioneering State Faculty Development Academy will focus on upgrading university teachers’ skills and knowledge across the state.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand is set to establish its inaugural State Faculty Development Academy, aimed at enhancing the skills and proficiency of university educators throughout the state.

The academy will offer short-term training programs at prestigious institutions like XLRI and IIM, focusing on advanced educational research and teaching technologies.

This initiative targets teachers from all state universities, including Kolhan University and Jamshedpur Women’s University.

Recent surveys revealed that university teachers lack up-to-date knowledge of contemporary teaching methods.

In response, the state government has allocated Rs 20 crore for the academy’s establishment under the new education policy framework.

The academy will organize high-level training programs, including induction programs, refresher courses, and faculty development initiatives.

Collaboration with top 30 educational institutions across India, including XLRI Jamshedpur and NIT Jamshedpur, will provide valuable knowledge partnerships.

Local partners such as ATI Ranchi, CMPDI, and various universities and research institutes will also contribute to the academy’s programs.

This strategic initiative aims to transform state university teachers into role models, enhancing their teaching methods and classroom effectiveness.

The academy’s establishment addresses the need for continuous professional development in higher education.

By partnering with elite institutions, Jharkhand aims to bridge the gap between current teaching practices and evolving educational standards.
