Jamshedpur Women’s University Hosts Human Rights Awareness Session

Former IAS officer Suchitra Sinha discusses ‘My Right My Might’ initiative with students

An interactive session on human rights was held at Jamshedpur Women’s University to raise awareness about fundamental rights and their proper use.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Human Rights Commission, New Delhi, organized an interactive session on human rights at Jamshedpur Women’s University to educate students about their fundamental rights.

The university’s Vice Chancellor chaired the event, stressing the significance of understanding and correctly utilizing one’s rights without misuse.

Suchitra Sinha, a former Indian Administrative Service Officer and Special Reporter for the National Human Rights Commission, served as the chief guest.

She provided valuable insights into human rights, outlining the various rights individuals possess throughout their lives.

Sinha also discussed the ‘My Right My Might’ initiative, encouraging active student participation.

Sunil Kumar, Deputy Director of the Technical and Higher Education Department, emphasized the importance of widespread human rights awareness.

He urged attendees to educate others in their communities about these crucial rights.

The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Proctor Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu.

Dr. Ratna Mitra introduced the chief guest to the audience.

NSS Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the program.

Dr. Nupur Anvita Minj conducted the event, which included a street play on human rights performed by NSS students.

The success of the program was attributed to the efforts of Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Kishwar Ara and Dr. Sonali Singh.

Several faculty members, including Dr. Kamini Kumari, Dr. Pushpa Kumari, and Dr. Sanjay Bhuinya, attended the event.

Non-teaching staff and students from various faculties also participated in the interactive session.
