Motorcycle collision with passenger bus leads to road blockade by locals

A tragic accident on the Tata-Chaibasa highway resulted in one death and one severe injury, prompting local protests.

CHAIBASA – A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a passenger bus on the Tata-Chaibasa highway near Kuju culvert has left one youth dead and another seriously injured.

The incident occurred when the motorcycle, bearing an Odisha registration number, was hit by a passenger bus traveling from Jamshedpur.

Local residents blocked the Tata-Chaibasa main road for an hour in protest of the accident.

Mufassil police station officers arrived at the scene to manage the situation.

The injured youth and the deceased were transported to Sadar Hospital by the police.

Authorities are still working to identify both victims, who are believed to be from the Barbil area of Odisha.

The bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle.

Both youths were left unattended at the accident site for a considerable time before locals discovered them.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local residents initiated the road blockade.

The Mufassil police persuaded the protesters to clear the road after arriving at the scene.

Medical staff at Sadar Hospital provided treatment to the injured youth.

Police have attempted to contact individuals based on the motorcycle’s registration details.

The injured youth remains unconscious, hampering identification efforts.

Authorities are actively trying to locate and inform the families of the victims.
