JAMSHEDPUR – National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur witnessed the grand inauguration of its state-of-the-art Scientific Computing Lab on December 16, 2024. The lab, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the FIST scheme, aims to provide a cutting-edge platform for scientific research and computational learning.

Key Inauguration Highlights

The event was attended by NIT Jamshedpur Director Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, Deputy Director Prof. R.V. Sharma, and other dignitaries. Dr. Raj Nandkeoliar delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the growing importance of scientific computing in today’s technological landscape. He extended gratitude to DST for funding the project.

Prof. Gautam Sutradhar congratulated the Department of Mathematics for securing the funding and highlighted the significance of the new lab. “The establishment of this lab marks a milestone in advancing scientific computing, offering students and researchers a critical resource to excel in computational sciences,” he remarked.

Modern Infrastructure and Future Prospects

Equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced software, the Scientific Computing Lab is expected to empower students and researchers to work on cutting-edge projects. The lab will also introduce specialized courses and training programs focused on scientific computing.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rajat Tripathi from the Mathematics Department. He acknowledged the support of DST, faculty members, students, and guests for making the project and the inauguration event a success.
