RANCHI – President Droupadi Murmu has named former Union minister Santosh Gangwar as Jharkhand’s new Governor in a late-night reshuffle.

Veteran BJP leader Santosh Gangwar, an eight-time MP from Bareilly, has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand, marking a new chapter in his political career.

Gangwar’s political odyssey began in 1984 when he first contested the Lok Sabha elections. Despite an initial setback, he secured his first parliamentary victory in 1989.

Gangwar’s exclusion from the BJP’s candidate list for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections raised eyebrows. Party sources cited the unofficial age limit of 75 years as the reason.
