Jharkhand Releases Draft Voter List, Launches ‘Naam Jancho’ Campaign
CEO K Ravi Kumar Urges Voters to Verify Details Before August 9 Deadline
Jharkhand’s election office unveils draft voter list and ‘Naam Jancho’ social media campaign, encouraging citizens to verify their electoral information.
RANCHI – Jharkhand’s Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar announced the publication of the draft voter list on Thursday, marking a crucial step in the election preparation process.
The release comes as part of the second special summary revision programme, with the draft list now available for public scrutiny at polling booths across the state.
Kumar emphasized the importance of voter participation, stating, "We urge all eligible voters to verify their details and report any discrepancies to their booth-level officers promptly."
The ‘Naam Jancho’ social media campaign launched alongside the draft list aims to boost voter engagement and ensure accurate electoral rolls.
Citizens can check their information through various channels, including the Voter Helpline App and the Election Commission’s online portal.
The deadline for submitting claims and objections is set for August 9, with the final voter list scheduled for publication on August 20.
This electoral exercise gains significance as Jharkhand gears up for assembly polls later this year, following the previous elections held in November-December 2019.
Meanwhile, a BJP delegation led by State unit president Babu Lal Marandi met with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The opposition party raised concerns about voter list discrepancies, particularly regarding demographic changes in border constituencies.
Their memorandum called for an investigation into the reported increase in Muslim voters and decrease in Hindu voters at certain polling stations.
