Former India cricketer Saurabh Tiwary’s recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah fuels rumors of a potential political career.
JAMSHEDPUR – Ex-Jharkhand cricket captain Saurabh Tiwary’s visit to Delhi has set political circles abuzz with speculation about his possible entry into politics.
The cricketer, known for his stints with IPL teams like Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, met with Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday.
During the meeting, Tiwary presented Shah with a book, an gesture that has intensified rumors about his political aspirations.
"My meeting with Amit Shah ji was enlightening. We discussed various aspects of Jharkhand’s development," Tiwary commented after the encounter.
The timing of this meeting, just months before the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, has led to widespread speculation about Tiwary potentially joining the BJP.
Political analyst Ravi Kumar noted, "It’s common for public figures, especially sportspersons, to transition into politics. Tiwary’s meeting with a senior BJP leader at this juncture is certainly noteworthy."
Tiwary, who hails from Jamshedpur, has represented India in one-day internationals and was part of the victorious Under-19 World Cup team in 2008.
The Election Commission has already begun preparations for the Jharkhand assembly elections, expected to take place in the coming months.
As of now, neither Tiwary nor BJP officials have made any official statements regarding his potential political move.
