Former MP Criticizes Verdict, Questions Government’s Stance on Paper Leak Responsibility
In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision not to order a re-examination of NEET UG 2024, concerns have been raised about the integrity of the testing process and the impact on aspiring medical students across India.
JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Ajoy Kumar, the former MP from Jamshedpur, has slammed the central government for the Supreme Court’s decision not to order a fresh NEET UG exam.
He also raised concerns about the government’s handling of the alleged paper leak incident in the court.
Dr. Ajoy Kumar, a senior Congress leader and former Member of Parliament, voiced his dissatisfaction with the court’s decision and said that the government failed in protecting the interests of the lakhs of students.
According to him, a re-examination would have established an important precedent for the country and would have given justice to the students, who have been waiting for the SC verdict on the issue.
According to Kumar, the decision could potentially encourage individuals engaged in exam malpractices and would embolden them to repeat the offence.
He stressed the importance of giving students an opportunity to retake the exam.
Kumar has called on the Modi government to publicly disclose the individuals responsible for the alleged paper leak.
From the very start, he leveled accusations at the government, claiming they were trying to shield the National Testing Agency (NTA).
According to the former MP, this verdict could potentially undermine public confidence in both the NTA and the NEET UG examination process.
The bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, concluded that there were no systemic violations in the conduct of the exam.
According to their statement, the data available does not suggest a widespread leak of the question paper.
Kumar contended that the investigative agencies did not present precise facts before the court.
He expressed his disappointment with the court’s decision, noting that it has had a negative impact on the students’ morale.
The NEET UG 2024 exam has sparked a wider discussion on the integrity and equity of national exams with significant consequences.
