JAMSHEDPUR – Local authorities have rounded up a minor for waving a Palestine flag during a Muharram procession in the Jugsalai area on July 16.
The incident came to light after a video of the event circulated widely on social media platforms.
"We identified the youth from the viral footage and took immediate action," a police source stated.
Following his arrest, the minor underwent a medical examination before being presented in court on Saturday.
The court subsequently ordered the youth to be sent to a juvenile home.
During questioning, the minor revealed that social media reels had inspired his actions.
"I stopped when other procession participants intervened," the youth reportedly told investigators.
The case, registered at Jugsalai police station, is based on a statement by Magistrate Prem Prakash Hembram.
Charges against the minor include attempting to disturb the peace and disobeying orders.
This incident has sparked discussions about the influence of social media on youth behavior during public events.
Local community leaders have called for increased awareness among young people regarding the implications of their actions.
