Farmers’ Meet Highlights Agricultural Innovation in District
DDC encourages integrated farming, entrepreneurship at progressive farmers’ gathering
Progressive farmers in the district convened to share experiences and learn new agricultural techniques.
JAMSHEDPUR – A meeting of progressive farmers, organized at the Collectorate Auditorium, brought together agricultural innovators to share successful practices and inspire fellow cultivators.
Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar chaired the event, emphasizing the district’s agricultural potential and the importance of scientific farming methods.
"Our state is providing opportunities for farmers to learn advanced techniques, even sending them to Israel for training," Kumar stated during the gathering.
The DDC stressed the need to move beyond traditional farming practices, encouraging integrated agricultural systems that include animal husbandry and fisheries.
PD ITDA Dipankar Chaudhary highlighted the crucial role of farmers in societal development, urging them to explore value-added agriculture.
"Government schemes for irrigation, seed distribution, and financial support are available. Farmers must become aware of these benefits," Chaudhary advised.
Director NEP Ajay Saav emphasized the importance of various departmental schemes in strengthening the rural economy, encouraging farmers to proactively utilize these resources.
The meeting showcased successful practices in mushroom cultivation, floriculture, and vegetable farming, with outstanding farmers receiving recognition from officials.
Attendees were informed about initiatives in animal husbandry, pond construction, crop relief schemes, and mixed fish farming, among others.
Dr. Kumar Surendra, the District Animal Husbandry Officer, and Toppo Asha, the District Cooperative Officer, were among the key officials present at the event.
Over 150 progressive farmers from various blocks participated, representing the district’s agricultural diversity.
The gathering concluded with a call for farmers to leverage government schemes and adopt integrated farming approaches for economic upliftment.
This meeting, organized on District Magistrate Ananya Mittal’s instructions, aimed to create a platform for knowledge sharing and inspiration among the district’s farming community.
