JAMSHEDPUR – The water supply to 21 panchayats in Chhota Govindpur has been disrupted, causing significant distress among the residents.
Agitated by the situation, residents, led by District Council Vice President Pankaj, met with the Deputy Commissioner to demand a permanent solution.
District Council member Dr. Paritosh Kumar explained that a 10-day shutdown notice was issued for maintenance.
The water supply to these 21 panchayats has been halted for the past three days, affecting 22,000 households.
This has created a severe water crisis in the area.
To address the issue, they have demanded the installation of valves at five locations to ensure continuous water supply to the 21 panchayats.
Additionally, Dr. Paritosh Kumar highlighted other demands, including the completion of unfinished water supply projects in several homes, fixing leaks in the pipeline, and resolving the water supply disruption to 100 homes caused by the main road construction in Govindpur over the past four years.
The residents have called for a joint meeting with the water supply department to ensure a continuous water supply to the affected homes.
