Jharkhand Ramps Up Security for Muharram Observances

Multi-Pronged Approach Includes Police Deployment, Drone Surveillance, and Anti-Riot Drills

RANCHI – Jharkhand’s major cities have implemented comprehensive security arrangements for Muharram, with Jamshedpur leading the way in advanced preparations and technology deployment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal outlined the city’s robust security plan: "We’ve deployed over 2,300 armed police personnel across key areas to ensure peaceful processions."

Advanced Security Measures

The multi-faceted security approach includes:

1. Police Deployment: 2,300+ armed personnel stationed in Mango, Jugsalai, Golmuri, Kadma, and Telco.

2. Drone Surveillance: Aerial monitoring in critical areas like Mango, Kadma, Dhatkidih, and Makdampur.

3. Traffic Restrictions: Heavy vehicle movement banned from 9 am on Muharram to 6 am the following day.

4. Anti-Riot Preparedness: Mock drill conducted at Golmuri Police Station to simulate emergency responses.

"Our goal is to ensure that the Muharram processions are conducted peacefully without any untoward incidents," SSP Kaushal emphasized.

Statewide Vigilance

Similar measures have been implemented across Jharkhand:

– Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Hazaribagh have increased police presence and conducted flag marches.

– Drone cameras are being utilized for real-time monitoring of processions.

Rural SP Rishab Garg highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination: "Today’s exercise showcased our readiness and the seamless integration of our forces to tackle any emergency."

A police flag march through key localities aimed to boost public confidence:

– Route included Telco, Burmamines, Jugsalai, Kadma, Bistupur, Sonari, Mango, Azadnagar, Sitaramdera, Golmuri, and Sakchi.

– Demonstration of administrative commitment to maintaining peace and order.
