Electrician Dies in Adityapur, Family Blames Electricity Deptt Negligence

Family demands compensation after Sonu Mahato’s death

An experienced electrician, Sonu Mahato, died near Mirudih, Adityapur, due to alleged negligence by the electricity department.

JAMSHEDPUR – Sonu Mahato, a skilled electrician, tragically lost his life near Mirudih, Adityapur, owing to alleged negligence by the electricity department.

Following his death, Mahato’s family members confined a department engineer at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur, refusing to let him leave.

The family claims that Mahato died because of the department’s carelessness and demanded action against those responsible.

According to reports, Sonu Mahato was working on a high-tension line after securing a shutdown in Mirudih.

During his work, the power was suddenly restored, causing a severe electric shock that led to his fatal fall.

Despite immediate transportation to TMH, doctors declared him dead upon examination.

Upon receiving the news, Mahato’s relatives rushed to TMH, causing a commotion and surrounding the visiting engineer.

The grieving family and supporters from the Jharkhand Bijli Kamgar Sangh (JBKSS) in Saraikela are demanding a compensation of INR 25 lakh.

They accuse the Jamshedpur General Manager of the electricity department of negligence, alleging that work was conducted without proper safety measures.

The engineer, who works for the Adityapur 1 Subdivision under IPSG Manpower Supply Agency, was on-site during the incident.

Protesters have vowed not to allow the body to be moved or a post-mortem to be conducted until their compensation demands are met.
