DBMS Kadma High School Hosts Inter-House Chess Tournament

Students showcase strategic skills in senior and junior categories

School promotes creativity and critical thinking through competitive chess play.

JAMSHEDPUR – D.B.M.S. Kadma High School organized an Inter-House Chess Tournament on June 22, 2024, at the school’s ‘Kalakrati’ auditorium.

Principal Gurpreet Bhamra inaugurated the event, which saw participation from 56 students across all four houses – Ruby, Topaz, Emerald, and Sapphire.

The competition was divided into senior and junior categories, with multiple rounds leading to the finals.

In the senior category, Praveer Kashyap of Sapphire House clinched first place, followed by Suraj Kiran of Emerald House and Ketan Kumar of Ruby House.

V. Karthik from Sapphire House won the junior category, with Vedansh Sinha of Topaz House and Anant Agarwal of Sapphire House securing second and third positions respectively.

The tournament aimed to foster creativity and critical thinking skills among students.

Anita Ramakrishna, Secretary of the School Management Committee, presented awards to the winners.

School officials, including Vice Principals Suparna Roy and S. Shereen, were present at the event.

Suprabha Panda, Head of the Sports Department, served as the Tournament Technical Director.

The enthusiasm displayed by participants highlighted the growing interest in chess among students.

This event underscores the school’s commitment to promoting intellectual sports alongside traditional athletics.

Chess is increasingly recognized as a valuable tool for developing strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in young learners.
