Poll Boycott in Dhalbhumgarh Leads to Empty Booths in Jamshedpur Elections

Officials Struggle to Encourage Voting Amid Boycott Over Unmet Infrastructure Demands

Voting in Jamshedpur saw a unique challenge as no voters showed up at a specific booth for hours due to a boycott.

JAMSHEDPUR – Voting for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency has been underway since Saturday morning at various polling stations.

However, by 11:00 am, no voters had arrived at booth number 154 in Dhalbhumgarh Kanas Panchayat.

This booth, with 1,069 registered voters, remained deserted, prompting top officials to visit the site.

According to reports, the voter boycott left the booth silent.

CO Sameer Kashyap, Dhalbhumgarh police station in-charge Rajendra Munda, BDO Babli Kumari, and DCLR were among those who arrived to investigate the situation.

The officials found only a few people at the booth, none willing to speak with them.

Recently, village leaders from Chhodia and Chhabisa held a meeting where villagers decided to boycott the vote.

The boycott was in protest, demanding the construction of a bridge at Pampu Ghat and a road from Narsinghgarh railway gate to Chhabisa.

Officials sent BLOs to appeal to the villagers to vote, but by 11:30 am, no one had turned up.

The administrative officials expressed concern over the situation.

They even visited the village head’s house but did not find him at home.

Previously, SDO and SDPO had met with the villagers to address their concerns and encouraged them to vote.

Despite these efforts, the villagers maintained their stance and did not participate in the election.

The absence of voters at booth 154 highlights the impact of unresolved local issues on the electoral process.

The officials continue to seek solutions to address the villagers’ demands and ensure their participation in future elections.
