Kunal Sarangi Resigns as Jharkhand BJP Spokesperson, Raises Concerns

Kunal Sarangi steps down from Jharkhand BJP spokesperson role, expresses discontent with party dynamics

Kunal Sarangi has resigned from his position as the Jharkhand state BJP spokesperson, announcing his decision via his social media account on X (Twitter handle).

JAMSHEDPUR – On Sunday evening, Kunal Sarangi held a press conference at Center Point in Bistupur to announce his resignation from the post of Jharkhand state BJP spokesperson.

Sarangi expressed that he had been sidelined from party programs for the past six months, leading to his decision to resign.

Despite raising his concerns within the party, he felt compelled to address the media due to the lack of response.

When questioned about the reasons for his resignation, Sarangi defended his ambitions for a party ticket, stating, “What is wrong in pursuing ticket ambitions by working hard?”

He highlighted that individuals with criminal backgrounds had received tickets.

Sarangi revealed that he was not informed about Prime Minister Modi’s election meeting in Ghatshila, which added to his frustration.

Many youths, including myself, joined the BJP inspired by PM Modi,” Sarangi remarked.

He criticized the party for giving posts to those who worked against it in the last assembly elections.

Sarangi noted that despite the change in the district BJP leadership, the same team that contributed to former CM Raghubar Das’s defeat remained.

After raising these issues within the party, he was excluded from programs.

Since the ticket announcement, Sarangi stated he had not been informed about any party activities.

He also mentioned that he had kept state officials updated about his grievances.

Sarangi expressed his disappointment over not being informed about the Prime Minister’s program or the opening of the election office in Baharagora.

“My protest is not against Modiji but against those who hijack the party,” Sarangi emphasized.

He stressed that his resignation was a matter of self-respect and not a move to seek another job.

Sarangi raised several questions, implicitly referring to outgoing MP and BJP candidate Vidyut Baran Mahato.

“Is it wrong to aspire for a ticket? Is it wrong to be recognized in an internal survey? Is social service work wrong?” Sarangi asked.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sarangi worked extensively in the community, waiving hospital bills for many needy individuals.

He questioned whether these actions were wrong.

When asked about his future plans, Sarangi stated, “The public will decide the next step.”

A local political observer commented, “Sarangi’s resignation highlights internal issues within the BJP.”

Another BJP insider remarked, “The party should address these concerns and work towards unity.”
