JAMSHEDPUR – Liquor outlets in Jamshedpur and its neighboring areas will close for a total of 10 days due to dry days declared ahead of elections.
Authorities have ordered that all bars, clubs, and liquor stores cease operations during this period.
The closure will start from 5 p.m. on May 11 until 5 p.m. on May 13, again from May 23 to May 25, and lastly from May 30 to June 1.
On June 4, vote-counting day, liquor shops will remain shut all day.
Dry days are intended to ensure fair elections for Singhbhum ST, Khunti ST, Lohardaga ST, and Palamu SC seats on May 13.
Further voting will occur in Chatra General, Koderma, and Hazaribagh on May 20, followed by Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Giridih on May 25.
Finally, voting in Rajmahal, Dumka, and Godda will occur on June 1.
This measure aims to prevent alcohol-related disturbances during the crucial election period.
