Court Finds No Remaining Issue in Writ Petition; Opposition Accused of Spreading Misinformation

JAMSHEDPUR – The Gurudwara Prabandh Committee of Sakchi declared a legal victory on Wednesday after the Jharkhand High Court dismissed a writ petition challenging the committee’s elections, with Sardar Nishaan Singh confirmed as continuing president.
Nishaan Singh, president of the Gurudwara Prabandh Committee, Sakchi, held a joint press conference with senior Jamshedpur court advocate K.M. Singh on Wednesday. The two addressed what they described as deliberate misinformation spread by the committee’s opponents. They stated that the opposition had falsely claimed the High Court had directed fresh elections, which they said was entirely untrue.
K.M. Singh stated clearly that the Jharkhand High Court bench of Justice Anand Sen, while hearing the writ petition concerning the Sakchi Gurudwara election dispute, found that the proceedings in question had already been concluded. The court referred to Annexure-B of a counter-affidavit filed by the respondent on July 8, 2025. On that basis, the court held that since the elections had already taken place, no issue remained for consideration in the writ petition.
The court further stated that any person dissatisfied with the election outcome was free to approach the appropriate civil court in accordance with the law. However, it issued no direction for any fresh election, contrary to what was being alleged by the opponents.
“Truth has prevailed and those who uphold the constitution of the Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib have won,” Nishaan Singh said at the press conference. He added that he would continue as the principal sevadaar of the Sakchi Gurudwara. In addition, he accused the opposition of misleading the public through false information about the court’s ruling.
The High Court verdict has effectively brought the entire dispute to a close. Nishaan Singh will continue in his role as president of the Gurudwara Prabandh Committee, Sakchi. The committee was represented before the Jharkhand High Court by senior advocates Ayush Aditya, Praveen Shankar Dayal, Manish Kumar, Krishna Murari Singh, and Avinash Prakhar. Meanwhile, the Sikh community in Jamshedpur has been following the case closely, given the Gurudwara’s central role in the city’s religious life. The Sikh institutions of Jamshedpur have long maintained an active presence in civic and community affairs.
