Grand Nagar Kirtan procession to begin from Sonari Gurdwara on Nov 15

JAMSHEDPUR – The city is set to celebrate the 555th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with devotion, starting with a grand Nagar Kirtan procession from Sonari Gurdwara on November 15.
The Central Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) has invited the Sikh community in Kolhan to join and seek blessings during this auspicious event.
The CGPC has requested all attendees to refrain from fireworks for safety and environmental reasons.
According to CGPC President Sardar Bhagwan Singh, preparations for the Nagar Kirtan are in their final stages, with various teams ensuring smooth arrangements.
Singh also appealed to the youth to maintain decorum during the procession.
Starting at 11:30 a.m., the Nagar Kirtan will follow a set route from Sonari Gurdwara through Sonari Market, Aerodrome, Circuit House Roundabout, JUSCO Roundabout, Northern Town, Keenan Stadium, Straight Mile Road, and Sakchi Roundabout, concluding at Sakchi Gurdwara by 5 p.m.
The procession will feature decorated Palki Sahib, led by groups such as horse riders, gatka (martial arts) teams, and various school and religious groups.
Additionally, around 42 decorative arches will line the route in honor of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
CGPC Secretary Amarjit Singh emphasized adherence to tradition, noting that participants should only carry saffron or grey Nishan Sahib flags as per Akal Takht guidelines.
Multiple diwans, or hymn sessions, and community langar meals are arranged at all gurdwaras in Jamshedpur.
Traffic for the event will be managed by the Central Sikh Youth Sabha under the direction of Amrik Singh.
Tara Preet Singh Banni will oversee the Palki Sahib procession, while Ravinder Kaur will lead the Central Sikh Women’s Satsang Sabha.
Leaders also warned against any intoxicated behavior, indicating strict action for violations.
The Akali Dal will also host an Amrit Sanchar ceremony at Sakchi Gurdwara on November 18 at 1 p.m., and an event honoring exemplary contributions from religious groups and schools will be held at the Central Diwan on November 17.
