JAMSHEDPUR — Tata Steel held its sixth edition of the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Excellence Awards at Steelennium Hall in Jamshedpur on March 30, 2026, honouring employees and vendor partners for outstanding contributions to workplace safety, health, and environmental sustainability.

The Tata Steel SHE Excellence Awards were first instituted in FY20. They were conceived to acknowledge employees who demonstrate leadership in safety, health, and environment. This year’s edition marked a significant expansion with the introduction of the Wellness Leader Award category.

TV Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, was the Chief Guest. He stressed the organisation’s commitment to achieving zero fatalities. He also underlined the need to meet stringent environmental norms across all operations and said safety must move beyond mere compliance to become a demonstrated behaviour embedded in organisational culture.

The programme also featured a virtual keynote by Akash Latchman, Chief Operating Officer of Tata Steel Nederland. He offered global perspectives on strengthening safety culture through leadership behaviour, risk anticipation, and people-centric systems.

Rajiv Mangal, Vice President — Safety, Health and Sustainability, delivered the opening remarks. He emphasised consistent execution, personal accountability, and leadership commitment in eliminating safety and environmental risks. The event was organised under his leadership alongside Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Chief Safety.

Meanwhile, Shailesh Kumar Singh, Deputy President of Tata Workers’ Union, highlighted the steady evolution of the awards. He stressed the importance of recognising frontline workers and vendor partners as critical enablers of safety excellence.

In addition, the event commenced with a safety contact on the theme of “zero harm,” reinforcing the organisation’s core commitment to a fatality-free workplace environment.
