Top Seeds Advance to Quarter Finals at Tata Steel AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament

V M Ranjeet, Ritabrata Sarkar, Abhinansu Borthakur, and Mukil Ramanan Secure Victories

The TATA STEEL AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament (1 Lac Prize Money) 2024, currently underway at the JRD TATA Sports Complex, witnessed top seeds progressing to the quarter finals of the Men’s Singles event.

JAMSHEDPUR – The pre-quarter final matches of the TATA STEEL AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament (1 Lac Prize Money) 2024 saw top-seeded players asserting their dominance and securing their spots in the quarter finals.

V M Ranjeet of Tamil Nadu, the top seed, demonstrated his prowess by defeating Rishiraj Shekhawat in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Second-seeded Ritabrata Sarkar of Bengal faced a challenging encounter against Karnataka’s Mandeep Reddy Kudumala but emerged victorious with a hard-fought 7-6(7), 6-2 win.

Abhinansu Borthakur of Bengal, the third seed and winner of the Beldih Club AITA Men’s 1 lac tournament in November 2023, proved too strong for young Balabhadra Behera of Odisha, cruising to a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Fourth seed Mukil Ramanan from Tamil Nadu also advanced to the quarter finals, dropping just four games in his 6-1, 6-3 win against Bengal’s Arib Afzal.

Unseeded player Sajal Kesarwani continued his impressive run, overcoming V Dheeraj Reddy of Telangana by 3-6, 5-3 (conc.) after Reddy was forced to concede the match at 5-3 in the second set due to a knee injury sustained during a fall.

The tournament will resume tomorrow at 07:30 am, with all matches scheduled to take place at the JRD TATA Sports Complex.
