Newborn Rescued from Under a Culvert in Chakradharpur
Community Rallies Around Healthy Newborn Found by Local Fisherman
In a heartening display of community spirit, a newborn boy was rescued early Thursday morning from under a canal culvert near Mahulborai-Krishnapur village, Chakradharpur.
CHAKRADHARPUR – A distressing yet fortunate discovery occurred early in the morning when Tapan Kaivart, a local fisherman, heard a baby’s cries emanating from under a canal culvert while on his way to fish.
Tapan was shocked to find a newborn boy left under the culvert and quickly called for help from nearby residents.
Together, they safely retrieved the infant and brought him to their village, where they alerted local social worker Abhijeet Bhattacharya to the situation.
Abhijeet responded promptly, assisting Tapan and his mother in transporting the baby to Chakradharpur sub-division hospital for medical evaluation.
Dr. JJ Mundu, who examined the infant, declared him healthy despite an ant bite on his leg, which occurred when the baby was thrown into the bushes under the culvert.
The child is currently receiving treatment at the hospital for his injury.
The incident drew significant community attention, with figures such as AJSU District President Ramlal Munda Giri, Raj Sena chief Umashankar Giri, and several local social workers visiting the hospital to support the newborn.
