Shaurya Diwas Celebrated with Valor in Sundarnagar

The 106 Battalion RAF commemorated Shaurya Diwas, honoring the historic victory over a Pakistani brigade in 1965.

JAMSHEDPUR – The 106 Battalion Rapid Action Force (RAF) marked Shaurya Diwas with grandeur in Sundarnagar, paying tribute to the unparalleled bravery demonstrated in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, on April 9, 1965.

The event was graced by Dr. Nishit Kumar, Commandant of the 106 Battalion RAF, alongside other distinguished personnel including Shailendra Kumar, Nagendra Singh, Rupak Karmakar, and Sujit Oraon, commemorating the courage of their predecessors.

The battalion celebrated the day with a series of activities, starting with a salute at the quarter guard by the Commandant, reflecting the deep respect for the valorous deeds of the CRPF.

An inter-company volleyball match, painting competition for school children, and a blood donation camp were among the day’s events, showcasing the battalion’s commitment to community and valor.

The celebration also included a special darbar and film presentations, highlighting the CRPF’s historical acts of bravery, particularly the significant victory at Sardar Post.

This day recalls the heroic stand of a small CRPF contingent against a formidable brigade of 3,500 Pakistani soldiers in 1965, underscoring a landmark victory in military history.

The festivities concluded with a grand dinner, reinforcing the spirit of brotherhood and unity among the officers and soldiers of the battalion.

Shaurya Diwas serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and bravery of the CRPF soldiers, with the 106 Battalion RAF celebrating this legacy of valor with pride and solemnity.
