Loyola School Jamshedpur Highlights Voting Importance

Students Emphasize Civic Duty Through Drama Enactment

In anticipation of India’s general elections, Loyola School students delivered a powerful message on the significance of voting through a ‘nukkad natak’ performance, underscoring the role of electoral participation in democracy.

JAMSHEDPUR – Loyola School took an innovative approach to political engagement by presenting a ‘nukkad natak’ or street play during the school assembly on April 9th, aimed at highlighting the critical importance of voting in a democracy.

The performance artfully combined humor and gravity to impress upon the audience – comprising students, staff, and faculty – the pivotal role each vote plays in shaping public policy and, by extension, the nation’s future.

The play served as a vivid reminder that while government officials make policy decisions, it is the electorate’s vote that empowers these individuals to act on the nation’s behalf, making voting not just a right but a substantial civic duty.

Father Vinod Fernandes, the school’s principal, reinforced the message by calling upon every eligible voter to exercise their right to vote, framing it as a commitment to mutual respect, responsibility, and national welfare.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by the school community to honor their democratic responsibilities, a commitment that resonated deeply with all participants and underscored the essential nature of active participation in the electoral process.

This unique educational initiative by Loyola School effectively used drama to engage and educate its community on the importance of voting, demonstrating the power of creative expression in fostering civic awareness and responsibility.
