Election Officers Review School-Based Polling Stations in Jamshedpur

Deputy Development Commissioner Mr. Manish Kumar, following District Election Officer Shri Ananya Mittal’s directives, assesses and improves the infrastructure of polling stations to ensure accessible and efficient voting.

JAMSHEDPUR – In line with the Election Commission’s guidelines, Deputy Development Commissioner Mr. Manish Kumar announced the provision of home voting for senior citizens above 85 years and those unable to visit polling stations.

Facilities for disabled voters, including wheelchairs, volunteers, and standard-compliant ramps, will be available at designated polling stations.

Engagement with voter awareness programs in schools is being emphasized to educate children, parents, and the youth about the importance of participating in democracy.

The Deputy Development Commissioner instructed principals to coordinate with Block Development Officers for immediate rectification of any basic facility issues at polling stations.

School principals were guided to ensure the repair of essential facilities before March 27, highlighting the importance of a conducive voting environment.

A comprehensive review of the polling stations‘ infrastructure revealed the need for immediate action on toilets, ramps, electricity, drinking water, and adequate lighting.

The meeting with school principals took place at People’s Academy, Baradwari, focusing on the state of facilities in government school-based polling stations.

Officials, including DSE, DEO, ADPO, and engineers from the Shiba department, joined principals from middle and high schools to ensure every polling station is equipped with necessary basic facilities.
