33 candidates file nominations on penultimate day, bringing total to 130 for Jamshedpur District Bar Association elections
The Jamshedpur District Bar Association elections have attracted a total of 130 candidates vying for various positions, with 33 candidates filing nominations on the penultimate day of the submission deadline.
JAMSHEDPUR – The elections are scheduled for April 20, with vote counting set for April 21, marking a significant juncture in the governance of the Jamshedpur District Bar Association. The overwhelming response has prompted the Election Commissioner, Arjun Singh, to extend the deadline for submission of nomination papers to March 18, allowing candidates additional time to formalize their candidacy.
The scrutiny of nominations will take place from March 19 to March 22. The election process will be overseen by a trio of Election Commissioners: Arjun Singh, Virendra Kumar Sharma, and Neel Bahadur Singhdev.
Hemraj Sharma, vying for the executive post, expressed his commitment to advocate welfare upon filing his nomination papers on Thursday. He emphasized priorities such as implementing the Advocate Protection Act, securing insurance coverage for advocates, and ensuring an entertainment allowance of at least Rs 20,000 during festivals, if elected.
A diverse array of contenders has emerged for key positions within the association. For the presidency, notable nominees include Rathindra Nath Das, Anshuman Chaudhary (Laltu), Umesh Kumar Tripathi, and Ranjit Pandey.
Candidates such as Anil Kumar Tiwari, Kumar Rajesh Ranjan, and Mithilesh Kumar Singh are contending for the role of General Secretary. Originally set to conclude on March 15, the new deadline for nomination submissions is now March 18, with 25 candidates having filed their nomination papers thus far.
