A young man faces charges for the attempted murder of a minor, marking a critical development 25 days post-incident.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a concerning turn of events, a youth from a village under Chandil police jurisdiction has been arrested for attempting to murder a minor by poisoning. The incident, occurring on February 16, led to the victim being found unconscious near Swarnarekha River.
The minor, who went missing around 11 pm, was later hospitalized at MGM Hospital, regaining consciousness on February 20. She revealed that a village youth had forced her to ingest poison.
Following a plea by the victim’s father on February 22, Chandil police initiated an inquiry, resulting in the youth’s arrest. Amidst allegations of gang rape during subsequent protests, authorities have pledged further action pending medical results.
