Villagers Demand Health Center Reclaim
Puniseer sub health center occupation by Jharkhand Arms Police prompts community action for healthcare rights
Residents of Rolahatu Panchayat demand the return of their only health facility from police use, threatening to boycott 2024 Lok Sabha elections if unmet.
SERAIKELA – In a resolute stand for healthcare access, villagers from Rolahatu Panchayat in Seraikela Kharsawan district are rallying against the occupation of their sole health center by the Jharkhand Arms Police.
Under the leadership of head Sastri Sanga, a memorandum has been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, urging the vacating of Puniseer’s sub health center.
The health facility has been repurposed as a police camp for several years, leaving locals without basic medical services.
Rolahatu Panchayat’s residents, predominantly living below the poverty line, have been compelled to rely on unqualified practitioners for healthcare.
The lack of accessible healthcare services has exacerbated the panchayat’s developmental challenges.
The community’s ultimatum: restore the health center within 15 days or face a boycott of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by the panchayat’s 14 villages.
This demand echoes the pressing need for adequate health facilities in the region.
Notable attendees at the village meeting included Mukhiya Sastri Sanga and several community leaders, highlighting widespread support for the cause.
