Ranchi Police Bolster Security for India-England Cricket Match Amid Threats

Following a threat to disrupt the upcoming cricket match between India and England in Ranchi, authorities have heightened security measures to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.

RANCHI – In response to a threatening video that emerged on YouTube, DSP PK Mishra announced that Ranchi Police have implemented stringent security protocols for the upcoming cricket match between India and England.

The video, attributed to Gurupatwant Singh Pannu of the Sikh for Justice organization, called for the match’s cancellation and urged the England team to return home.

Mishra explained that the threat also involved an appeal to local Maoist groups, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining peace and security during the event.

Authorities have registered the incident under the IT Act, focusing on preventing any disruption to the sporting event and safeguarding international relations.

The FIR outlined concerns over potential financial losses and damage to India’s international reputation due to the controversy.

Additionally, the police have been instructed to ensure the match proceeds without any disturbances, reflecting the seriousness with which the threat is being taken.

The involvement of the CPI Maoists was highlighted in the threat, with a specific call to action to prevent the cricket match from taking place on tribal land.

Ranchi Police’s investigation into the matter began promptly after the video’s discovery, indicating the threat’s potential impact on the scheduled match in Ranchi from 23rd February.

The case has been officially documented at Dhurva police station, marking the beginning of a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Gurupatwant Singh Pannu.

The FIR also mentioned the call to CPI Maoists to disrupt the event, revealing the extent of the planned interference with the India-England cricket match.

The Ranchi Police have taken immediate action to fortify security arrangements for the cricket match, reflecting the gravity of the threat.
