Saryu Roy Seeks Resolution for Jamshedpur Waterlogging

Jamshedpur East MLA Appeals to Tata Steel for Effective Drainage Solutions in Monsoon-Hit Areas

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy’s letter to Tata Steel VP highlights the ongoing struggle with waterlogging, urging immediate action for lasting solutions.

JAMSHEDPUR – The persistent water logging issues in Burmamines and East Plant Colony during the monsoon seasons have prompted MLA Saryu Roy to seek intervention from Tata Steel’s higher management.

Roy, in his communication to Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President Corporate Services of Tata Steel, highlighted the community’s distress over the inadequate drainage infrastructure despite recent efforts.

The MLA’s visit, influenced by local residents’ concerns, showcased the areas where Tata Steel UISL’s current drainage elevation work may fall short of resolving the longstanding waterlogging problem.

Residents guided Roy along the drain, emphasizing limitations even with Tata Steel UISL’s involvement, suggesting a need for a more comprehensive approach.

The inspection also revealed inadequacies in a previously covered drain section by then JUSCO, where insufficient cleaning has hampered rainwater discharge.

Roy’s letter advocates for a collaborative strategy, urging Tata Steel UISL engineers to engage with the community for a viable drainage solution, especially in light of new parking constructions.

The appeal underscores the necessity of effective water management to prevent the inefficacy of piecemeal efforts and ensure a sustainable resolution to the waterlogging woes.

This move by the MLA reflects a call to action for Tata Steel to address and rectify an issue that significantly impacts the residents’ quality of life during the rainy seasons.
